Can you describe your current position and how you came to be where you are today?
I am currently an Advertising Solutions Manager at ZEFR, a video advertising partner of YouTube. My role is to work with YouTube and other social platforms like Instagram and Vine with highly followed account holders (sometimes celebrities) to brainstorm creative ways to promote a brand. Throughout the duration of my career to date, I’ve worked with brands like The Home Depot, Nikon, IKEA, Jet Blue and Converse to name a few.
I began my career at an advertising agency not knowing if I wanted to work in TV or digital ad planning. I would spend my lunch break in company training sessions to learn about each. Eventually, I realized I wanted to grow with the momentum picking up in digital advertising. I started to build relationships with the digital team as I offered to help with work. When the opportunity opened up as an Assistant Advertising Planner, I took it.
You were a student at Morrisville not so long ago. Did you come to MSC already knowing what career you wanted to pursue?
I came to Morrisville pursuing a business degree with a creative focus in media. It was an industry I had some familiarity with from my grandpa who was a successful ad salesman in NYC.
How did your time at MSC prepare you for your career and did some of your experiences influence your current interests?
During my last year at MSC I was voted onto the board of SGO as Director of Public Relations where my main role involved creating ads to publicize campus activities. It was this experience that shaped me most before my professional endeavors. I was able to build on public speaking skills & professionalism and establish relationships with campus faculty and students.
What's been the biggest surprise or shock about post-college life?
Establishing independence, especially in NYC. It’s a fast-paced city and rent is not exactly cheap, but with ambition, experience, and patience you gain your groove and find the reward in each challenge.
What are you hobbies?
As a Brooklyn resident I enjoy exploring the borough. Brooklyn Bridge Park is a must see – it offers the best views of the city skyline whether day or night. There’s also a ton of restaurants with authentic food and culture so every weekend is truly a new adventure.
What’s your favorite Morrisville memory?
Being a part of SGO is my favorite memory of MSC. I built great relationships with friends that I still hold today.
If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Always have attainable goals with a deadline. Once you meet it, make a new one that is a little bigger, but still realistic.
